Hapkido / Taekwondo Classes
Hapkido, the art of coordinating internal power, was developed in Korea in the early 1920's by founder Yong Sool Choi. These defensive techniques were originally taught to the ruling family and the the royal court officials. By manipulating the small joints of the body along with applying pressure point manipulation, a smaller person can effectively defend against and control a much large and stronger opponent.
Taekwondo, the art of kicking and punching, is the national sport of Korea. This system teaches many kicks, punches and strikes and is the most popular from of martial art in the world. We teach the Song Moo Kwan traditional style.
Bloomington Karate Center effectively combines these two systems in its courses to provide a complete self defense and exercise program for any individual. Additionally, our students can earn world recognize ranking in both forms of martial arts.
Kickboxing
Bloomington Karate has been training amateur and professional fighters for over 30 years. During that time we have trained and been home to several National and World Champions both at the professional and amateur level; including, World Super Featherweight Kickboxing Champion C.B. Bunkholt.
We continue to train fighters for competition, as a means of conditioning and staying in shape, and as an aspect of our over all martial arts training. Let us know what your interest is.
